Elias is an Afro-Latine filmmaker and human rights activist, whose passion for storytelling and visual artistry has been evident from a young age. He has always been drawn to the world of film and its ability to captivate an audience. He developed a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of pacing, rhythm, and storytelling as an Editor. After receiving a Bachelors degree in Film and Media arts at the University of Tampa (UT), he was eager to travel abroad and further his education in order to refine his craft. Elias eventually went on to pursue a Master of Fine Arts degree in Film at City College of New York (CCNY). He mastered the art and technique as an editor, while also expanding his knowledge in other areas of filmmaking, as a director, screenwriter, cinematographer, and producer.
With over 10 years of experience, Elias' work has a wide range from independent short and feature films, to commercial productions, news reporting, and music videos. He has been a sought-after editor for his keen ability to bring out the best in every scene, creating seamless and impactful visual narratives that resonate with audiences. His films have received numerous awards and accolades, such as international awards from Bahrain and various U.S. national film festivals, for its powerful storytelling and compelling visual aesthetics.
Elias continues to push the boundaries of storytelling through his unique perspective currently at NowThis Media, a subsidiary of Vox Media, Inc. However, his latest work include but not limited to Muslim, the largest media publication delivering news centering the Muslim community online, and TED Conferences, LLC for original series, while he writes his anticipated feature film. Elias' unwavering passion for storytelling and his commitment to his craft has proven to lead any media position and outlet to success.
In addition to his work as an editor, Elias is also known for his dedication to promoting representation in the film and media industry. He is a vocal advocate for increasing the visibility of underrepresented voices, and uses his craft to shed light on important social issues. Elias continues to make a significant impact in the world of film through his authentic and thought-provoking pieces.
